Grade 6 art students recently took flight as they used air balloons to show their understanding of colour theory. Each balloon illustrated a different component including primary, secondary, intermediate, analogous, complementary, warm, cool, and black and white. Extra balloons were completed as their own choices. As well, students explored the use of depth and pattern.
Students began by drawing various sizes of balloons and overlapping some of them to show depth. Land was included.
Next patterns were added to balloons.
Finally colour was added using pencil crayons, markers or both.
Once everything was completed, a wash of blue paint was added for the sky.
